AFTERCARE
Most tattoos take 3-4 weeks to heal, during that time you can expect some tenderness and mild swelling that should subside with time. There are a few methods of healing your tattoo, which we will discuss at the end of your session.
Soap/Ointment method:
Remove your dressing after 1-2 hours and discard. Wash the tattoo gently with antibacterial soap and warm water. Gently pat dry with a clean towel and air dry before applying aftercare ointment (Aquaphor, A&D). Repeat process 2x a day.
You will likely experience skin tightness and itchiness a few days into your heal, you may want to supplement your aftercare with a plain, water-based lotion (Aveeno, Eucerin, etc.). Apply a small amount with clean hands between cleanings.
Saniderm method:
You can leave the Saniderm bandage on your tattoo for 8-24 hrs, depending on how much fluid your tattoo leaks. If you notice excess fluid is affecting the adhesion of your Saniderm you will need to remove it. Clean with anti-bacterial soap and warm water.
After cleaning you can apply a second patch (skin must be VERY dry, no product on skin) which can be worn for an additional 3-5 days, OR continue the healing process with the Soap/Ointment method mentioned above.
After your remove your Saniderm you will still want to keep your skin clean and moisturized, but the process should be much quicker and simpler.
